FAQs
what are your hours
1
GardenWorks does not currently have set weekly open hours.
Our schedule changes based on field trips, private programming, seasonal events, and staffing. The best way to see when we are open is to check our Events page for upcoming open play days, Garden Adventure Days, field trips, and special events.
are you open daily for play time?
2
Not at this time.
GardenWorks is not a daily play facility. We open for scheduled events, special adventure days, field trips, and seasonal experiences.
Please check our Events page for the most up-to-date schedule.
is there an age limit?
3
GardenWorks is designed for young children, especially toddlers through early elementary ages.
Most of our public events are best suited for children ages 18 months through 3rd grade, but younger siblings are welcome with close supervision.
Some events may have specific age guidelines depending on the activity, supplies, staffing, or safety needs. Please check each event listing before registering.
do we need to book in advance?
4
Yes. Advance registration is required for all events.
This helps us prepare supplies, snacks, staffing, and activities for the children attending. Every event has limited spots, and lately most of our events and camps are selling out at least 2 weeks in advance of that event. Registration will close once it sells out.
do parents stay with their kids?
5
Yes.
For public events and open play, a parent or guardian must stay with their child the entire time.
GardenWorks is a hands-on garden space, not a drop-off childcare program, unless an event is specifically listed as a drop-off program.
do babies need a ticket?
6
Children under 12 months are free if they are not participating in the activity or eating the snack.
If your child will be joining the activity, receiving supplies, participating in the craft, or eating the provided snack, they will need a ticket.
what happens if it rains?
7
Because GardenWorks is an outdoor space, weather may affect our schedule.
If an event needs to be rescheduled or adjusted due to rain, extreme heat, high winds, or unsafe weather conditions, we will communicate updates as soon as possible through the email used at registration and/or our social media pages.
what should we bring?
8
We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and shoes your child can safely play in.
GardenWorks is an outdoor garden space, so children may get dirty — and honestly, that’s part of the magic.
Do you offer field trips?
9
Yes! Field trips are one of the core ways children experience GardenWorks.
Our field trips are hands-on, sensory-rich garden experiences designed for schools, homeschool groups, learning pods, and children’s programs.
Children get to explore, learn, create, and connect with nature in a real garden environment.
how far in advance do we need to book a field trip?
10
We recommend booking field trips 3–6 months in advance, especially during our busiest seasons.
Our calendar fills quickly, and booking early gives us the best chance of securing your preferred date.
this is a nonprofit, why do you charge?
11
Yes — GardenWorks is a nonprofit, and like many nonprofit spaces, we still charge for admission, events, and programs.
Just like The Living Desert, San Bernardino county museum, Discovery Cube, the San Diego Zoo, and others children’s museums all over Southern California, we’re a nonprofit — but we still have real bills, staff, insurance, supplies, rent, utilities, and maintenance
For us, that means supplies, staff, insurance, rent, utilities, maintenance, and caring for the garden itself.
Every dollar that comes in goes back into GardenWorks and helps keep this space here for the children who love it.
do we have to check-in when we arrive?
12
Yes. Check-in is required for all events.
For safety, staffing, and supply purposes, every family must check in before entering the garden. Depending on the event, check-in may be located at the main gate or side gate.
This helps us make sure every child attending is registered, accounted for, and included in the supplies, snacks, and activities prepared for that day.
can we walk-in without registering?
13
No. GardenWorks is a closed facility, and walk-ins are not permitted unless an event specifically says otherwise.
All public events require advance registration. This allows us to prepare the right amount of supplies, snacks, staffing, and activities — and it helps keep the space safe and organized for the families who have registered.
If you are hoping to attend an event, please book through the Events page before arriving.
are tickets refundable?
14
Event tickets are generally non-refundable unless GardenWorks cancels the event.
Because supplies, staffing, snacks, and activity materials are planned in advance based on registration numbers, we are not always able to offer refunds for missed events or last-minute changes.
If weather or an unexpected GardenWorks-related issue requires us to cancel or reschedule, we will communicate options through the email used at registration.
why do spots sell out?
15
Because GardenWorks is a small, hands-on children’s garden — and families really love it here.
We keep our events limited so the garden doesn’t feel overcrowded, supplies are prepared for every child, and the experience stays sweet, safe, and special.
Many of our events have been filling quickly, and once we reach capacity, registration closes.
So if there’s a date you know you want, we always recommend booking early. We hate having to say “we’re full,” but lately, that’s been happening a lot.
